Rock ‘N Brews BBQ Contest Donates to Cancer Patient Support
Lake Wales, Fla. (October 27, 2021) – Camp Mack, a Guy Harvey Lodge, Marina and RV Resort and host of the popular Rock ‘N Brews BBQ Contest, confirmed today it raised $4,500 for support of breast cancer patients at the Florida BBQ Association sanctioned event held at the resort the weekend of October 22-23.
Competing in the contest were 34 pro and 16 backyard cook teams from across the state. With the support of title sponsor Lake Wales’ Weikert Ford, all ticket and raffle proceeds were donated to Charlene’s Dream Cancer Hope and Healing Program, an all-volunteer cancer patient support organization based in Daytona Beach, FL.
FBA Judges awarded the Grand Champions Smoke N Ash BBQ for the Pro division and Done Right Smokin for the Backyard division. The People’s Choice Award went to Backyard Bro’s BBQ based on votes by resort guests and festival attendees. In the resort’s popular “fun que” division, Sweet Smoke Q was crowned Gator Champion in the Nothin’ Butt Gator category. Team Uncle Buck BBQ and 4 Smokin’ Queens, with support of Top Shelf Marine Products, organized the event raffle to raise proceeds for Charlene’s Dream.
In confirming the donation, Kevin DeNell of Guy Harvey Outpost Resorts, and organizer of the event commented “The BBQ taste good, but all of our teams agree, it feels even better to bring folks together to help support those dealing with cancer. In our book, everyone’s a winner. We’re looking forward to cooking more BBQ and raising more money in our future Rock ‘N Brews events”.
