Join us for our Pups and Sups Dog Surfing Contest, July 21st on St Augustine Beach
Pups and Sups Dog Surfing Event Take 4! It’s East vs. West for Guinness Book of World Records at Pups and Sups in St Augustine Beach! Sure, California is known for its beaches and waves…, but so is St Augustine Beach. Plus, we have determination! How else could we be attempting for the FOURTH time to hold the Guy Harvey Resorts Pups and Sups dog-surfing competition after three weather delays? That’s right, Floridians let’s refuse to let rain stop us and make sure Florida is on the Surfing Map.
So here we go, rain or shine, and let’s see who can beat Abbie-Girl’s record! Who is Abbie-Girl? Abbie Girl is an Australian Kelpie owned by Michael Uy of Southern California that currently holds the Guinness Book of World Record for longest wave surfed by a dog. Abbie-girl set that record in California at a local dog-surfing event. Consider challenge accepted Abbie-girl! Our East Coast surfing pups may have something to say about that and July 21st, 2018 is the day to show off our skills. So bring your dogs, sunscreen, cheering squad and get ready to show the West Coast what we can do at the Pups and Sups dog surfing competition. The location is on the beach directly in front of Guy Harvey Resort on St. Augustine Beach … Just look for the tents and fun!
Local writer and Guen’s walker, Gary Williams, as well as Chris Johnson of American Ninja Warrior will be judging along with others. Judges will be looking for best style, most waves caught and of course…LONGEST RIDE to name just a few. This charity event is for fun and welcomes beginner surfing dogs as well as those that already know how to “hang 20” with boards being provided by the Surf Station. All monies for entry will support K9’s for Warriors, a wonderful charity that rescues dogs and trains them to be support animals for veterans suffering from PTSD and other ailments. Come on out St. Augustine Beach and let’s show the West Coast what we can do! Hey Abbie-girl, HOLD MY BEER …For more details on and to register visit PupsandSups.com
