Guy Harvey’s Bimini Big Game Club Re-Opens Historic Gulfstream Room
ALICE TOWN, BIMINI—MARCH 28, 2011—Re-opened last Memorial Day as a Guy Harvey Outpost, the legendary Bimini Big Game Club is again a haven for South Florida fishing and diving enthusiasts looking for a weekend getaway for themselves and family. Since completing its multi-million dollar makeover, the Big Game Club has since added top-of-class scuba diving, offshore fishing charters, backcountry fishing and assorted water sports to its list of outdoor pursuits, literally attracting guests from around the world.
Today, Guy Harvey announced completion of the Gulfstream Conference Center and adjoining Hemingway’s Rum Bar and Social Lounge, completing the restoration and transformation of the Club’s original poolside social rooms and spaces.
The 1,100-square-foot Gulfstream Conference Center includes the Bimini Room with the Club’s iconic murals by famed artist Phil Brinkman, and opens onto the Club’s pool patio deck. Hemingway’s Rum Bar & Social Lounge has been created around the Club’s original cocktail bar, with its colorful display of badges from fishing clubs around the world. The décor includes conversation areas with wingback chairs, poker tables for socializing and card playing, and trophy cases to showcase historic artifacts and club trophies.
“It was always our intention to take the Big Game Club beyond that of a fishing lodge by creating a destination that would attract families as well as serve as a convenient out-island venue for corporate, scientific and social group events,” said Mark Ellert, President of Guy Harvey Outpost LTD.
“We’re only 51 rooms, so our target market is the discriminating small meeting or wedding party looking for extremely personalized service and attention, Ellert added.
The Gulfstream Conference Center offers traditional meeting and banqueting facilities for approximately 75, and Hemingway’s Rum Bar & Social Lounge opens into this area for added socializing area.
